As Mackay Airport’s passenger numbers reveal continued growth, General Manager, Rob Porter, has clarified the details around the changes to QantasLink services to Mackay.
“QantasLink has announced changes across their entire regional Queensland network,” Mr Porter said.
“However there is absolutely no change to the frequency of services to Mackay as a result of these changes.”
“Consistency in seat capacity into Mackay Airport will help us to continue to achieve the passenger growth evident in the October 2017 passenger numbers just released.”
“Last month we saw Mackay Airport’s passenger numbers increase by 6% compared to October 2016. A 7% load factor increase took that figure to 76%, showing that airlines are filling more seats.”
This saw the continuation of the growth trend in total passenger numbers evident since May this year.
“The Brisbane route, which is also operated by Jetstar and Virgin Australia, grew by 9% or 5,100 passengers to reach a total of 64,000 passengers for the month.”
