Mackay Airport is proud to contribute to the growth and sustainability of our community and that commitment grows even stronger today with the launch of a new Community Grant Program.
General Manager, Rob Porter, said the “I fly Mackay because we care Community Grants Program” will provide much needed financial assistance to some of the hard working not-for-profit community based organisations in the Mackay region.
“We’re inviting community groups to lodge applications to receive a $1000 cash grant to help fund a specific project, event or equipment purchase,” Mr Porter said.
“There are all sorts of groups out there who will be eligible to apply, for example sporting clubs that support health and well-being in the community, organisations with an environmental, arts and culture or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander focus, or those delivering educational, community care or safety initiatives.”
Applications for the first round open today, Wednesday 16 May and close on Wednesday 30 May. Applications will be reviewed by an independent panel with the successful applicants notified on Monday 4 June.
From the second round, applications will open on the first Friday of each month and close on the third Friday of the month, with the successful applicants notified on the first Friday of the following month.
Mr Porter said “We’re really looking forward to making a difference in the Mackay community through the “I fly Mackay because we care Community Grants Program”.”
