Mackay Airport has received further endorsement of its responsible approach to growth and develompment as progress continues towards securing international services.
General Manager, Rob Porter said Mackay Airport is proud to have been successfully assessed as meeting the Bronze Benchmarking Requirements of the EarthCheck Company standard.
“It is fitting that Mackay Airport has achieved this global milestone as work to introduce international services gains strong momentum as part of fulfilling our 20 year development vision,” Mr Porter said.
“The prestigious EarthCheck certification is recogntion of Mackay Airport’s efforts to deliver continuous environmental improvements and to secure a sustainable future for the facility and the business.”
“We’ve undertaken several initiatives to achieve positive outcomes for our environment including a recent $1.3M upgrade to energy saving LED lighting across our entire apron. We are the first Australian airport to have implemented a complete apron upgrade to LEDs.”
