The strong partnership between Mackay Airport and Mackay Tourism Limited was officially endorsed today with the signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Mackay Airport General Manager, Rob Porter, and Mackay Tourism Limited General Manager, Tas Webber, met today to officially sign the document that forms the basis of their collaboration to promote the region over the coming year.
Mr Porter congratulated Tas and his team on the exciting results achieved recently with growth in both Domestic and International visitor numbers showing in recent statistics.
“As a proud long term partner with Mackay Tourism we’re committed to supporting them and our tourism industry to grow this increasingly important sector of our regional economy,” Mr Porter said.
“We’ve worked closely with them on some very successful projects in the past year which included the production of an entire edition of Queensland Weekender dedicated to our region.
“Other success stories include the second phase of the 101 Things to Do in the Mackay Region campaign which showcases the amazing array of tours and attractions we have on offer for our visitors to enjoy. We’re also seeing good take up of the latest campaign
#My MACKAY which encourages Mackay locals to share their favourite Mackay region experiences.”
These are all great examples of what can be achieved by working together and today’s MOU signing is all about keeping the momentum going as we continue working together to attract even more visitors through new promotional projects and campaigns.”
Tas Webber said support from the region’s key stakeholders like Mackay Airport was imperative to the success of tourism in the region.
“Our collaboration with Mackay Airport has allowed for the promotion of The Mackay Region on a larger scale. We’ve worked together to put Mackay ‘on the map’ and as a result we’ve seen more visitors in this region than ever before,” Mr Webber said.
“We are equally as excited to see how we can grow our partnership into the future and thank Mackay Airport for its ongoing support.”
