At Mackay Airport, we’re committed to ensuring our region thrives. Our strategy is to work and partner with organisations that make a greater difference to our Mackay Isaac community.
Our Mackay Airport Making Christmas a Little Brighter Campaign is aimed at supporting smaller, lesser-known charities and not-for-profit organisations with limited marketing capacity located in our Mackay Isaac region.
In 2024, Mackay Airport were proud to provide $10,000 donation to the following organisations:
- Wildlife Care Mackay Inc. – This organisation rehabilitates and releases native wildlife in the Mackay region. The donation will go towards travel expenses for two of their team members to complete mandatory koala training to enable them to continue working with koalas.
- Trudy Crowley Foundation – The foundation assists patients with all types of cancer by providing comfort and palliative care support for the people of Mackay. The donation will enable the foundation to continue supporting the local community by paying wages for the nurses and providing free-of-charge supplies to patients and families.
- Mackay Men’s Shed Inc. - Provides a safe space for men to connect, learn new skills and focus on mental health. The donation will be used to enhance their web and social media presence, get flyers printed and help fund additional external signage for the building.
- YIRS One Stop Youth Shop Inc - YIRS is a youth service for disengaged disadvantaged youth ages 8 – 21. YIRS help remove barriers that the young people and their families may face. The donation will go towards staffing costs.
- Orange Sky Mackay – This service supports people experiencing homelessness or hardship by providing a free laundry service in the Mackay and Sarina areas. The donation will be used to provide washing detergent for the machines, and all the supplies that keep them spinning.
This campaign will launch in mid-November 2025 and locals are being asked to nominate deserving organisations through our website. You will also find Donation Globes located around our terminal. Passengers are welcome to donate money into the globes, including any foreign currency. All funds donated into the globes will be invested back into the local community as part of this campaign.
Since the launch of the ‘Making Christmas a Little Brighter’ Campaign in 2023, Mackay Airport has donated over $20,000 to help smaller organisation continue the fantastic work they do in our region.
